Fil-Dutch girl fails to clinch 'The Voice Kids' title
HOLLAND - Filipino-Dutch finalist Katrina Manaog failed to clinch the grand prize in The Voice Kids live finals held on Friday in the Netherlands.
Voters chose Manaog's teammate Isabel Provoost to represent team Nick and Simon in the battle with the contenders of team Angela Groothuizen and Marco Borsato.
At the end of the night, the Dutch public voted for Dutch-Moroccan Ayoub Maach as the grand winner.
The 12-year old Manaog sang the controversial song Wrecking Ball, popularized by former Disney actress Miley Cyrus, while suspended on the air sitting on a huge ball.
Some Filipinos were dismayed with the choice of song and the production number assigned to Manaog.
However, many were still very proud of her performance and the pride that she gave to the Filipino community in the Netherlands.
"Katrina did her best! Short on votes, but full of our love, prayers, and support. She remains to be our champion," Manaog's father Jessie wrote on her Facebook shortly after her final performance.
Manaog's parents earlier said that whatever happens in the grand finals, they were already happy that Katrina was able to showcase her singing talent and become an inspiration to other Filipino kids in the Netherlands.
