HOLLYWOOD- Filipino balladeer Julius Obregon became a household name in the Philippines in the 1970s.
But since he moved to the US almost two decades ago, he has been in front of a different kind of audience.
Although he never stopped singing, Julius is now a church minister in southern California.
"I think that's the best job one can even have, is to serve him... I became a minister for the past 16 years. But I still sing," he said.
Julius will be one of the performers at the newly reopened Flipino restaurant, Noypitz, in Glendale, California.
"I'm a lounge singer. I miss that. We're starting that here in Noypitz," he said.
Noypitz serves traditional Filipino food with a modern twist, as well as Pinoy humor and music.
"I was thinking there was no place for Filipino entertainers, and I would like to showcase them here," Ami Almerol, co-owner of Noypitz, said.
