Pinoy charged with committing lewd acts on child in US
NEVADA – A Filipino is currently behind bars and is facing six counts of criminal charges in Las Vegas for committing lewd acts to a minor.
On February 8, Georgie Bayot called Las Vegas Metro Police to report that his vehicle was stolen. However, when police conducted a record check on Bayot, they discovered he had an outstanding justice court warrant for lewdness with a child.
In a warrant obtained by ABS-CBN News, the alleged crime was committed around July 2013. Bayot was identified as the offender.
The warrant stated that the child's mother was called to the school office to talk about her grades. The child disclosed that her mother's boyfriend, Bayot, touched her inappropriately. She had told her mother about the incident but the latter did not believe her.
The mother reportedly told the child that if Bayot leaves and goes to jail, nobody will take care of them because she does not work.
The 55-year old Bayot denied the allegations. He voluntarily went to the Southern Nevada Children Assessment Center. He said he did massage the child, but denied touching the child inappropriately.
Bayot believes the reason why the child is making these accusations is because she does not like him. The child is also reportedly upset because Bayot is dating her mother while still married to another woman in the Philippines.
Bayot appeared in justice court for a preliminary hearing before Justice of the Peace Judge Bill Kephart.
Bayot's public defense said that the bail is set too high, but this is expected in preliminary proceedings.
Bayot will remain incarcerated at the Clark County Detention Center with a surety bail set at a total of $600,000.
He is scheduled to appear in court on March 18.
