MANILA, Philippines - Filipinos may have a harder time getting jobs in Europe and the United States as the West awaits economic recovery.
But there are jobs aplenty in the East, especially in the Middle East.
The construction boom in Saudi Arabia and other parts of the Middle East continues despite the economic slowdown being experienced by other economies like the US and Europe.
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) said some 200,000 jobs are up for grabs in the Middle East this year alone.
Most of the job openings are in Saudi Arabia, followed by the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar.
POEA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said workers who will be deployed will receive a monthly salary ranging from $700 to over $1,000 with engineers and highly-skilled workers poised to get higher salaries.
Even Singapore and Malaysia are also need workers.
"Sa Singapore, construction, tourism, maski mga nurses, health workers. Sa Malaysia, agricultural workers,” he said.
For more information, jobskeers can log on to the POEA website for a list of openings and accredited recruitment agencies.
The POEA said the public should only deal with agencies included in the list to make sure all transactions are legitimate.
