MANILA -- Jony Villalon, the airport pushcart retriever, who returned an envelope containing $4,800 (P210,000) left by an arriving passenger at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1, was once again lauded, with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) naming him as its first Ambassador for Honesty on Tuesday.

TESDA Director General Joel Villanueva also awarded full scholarships to Villalon, his wife, and three other relatives.

Villalon chose to study a vocational course on Food and Beverage, while his wife opted for a class on Commercial Cooking. Their training will start on February 10.

The pushcart retriever expressed his gratitude for all the recognition that he has been receiving.

He also commented on reports that there was another pushcart retriever who saw the envelope, and should also be recognized.

According to Villalon, he was the one who picked up the envelope, and informed Reynaldo Omandac, his co-worker, of his find.

He added that he has no intentions of keeping everything he has received to himself. -- report from Dennis Datu, dzMM
