MANILA, Philippines – The remains of three more overseas Filipino workers who were killed in the hostage crisis in Algeria's In Amenas gas complex will arrive in the Philippines within the day, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.

DFA Spokesperson Raul Hernandez declined to give the names of the three OFWs at the request of their families who wanted space and time to mourn their loss.

Eight Filipinos died in the hostage crisis, while one remains missing.

On Tuesday evening, the remains of four of the slain OFWs, who worked for the Japan Gas Corp., arrived at the Miascor Cargo Center at 10:30 p.m. from Doha, Qatar.

Families of OFWs who were members of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) at the time of their death will receive death and burial benefits of P220,000. Social workers will also assist the bereaved families. – with a report from Dennis Datu, dzMM
