DUBAI – Thousands of Filipinos and even foreigners trooped to the Dubai Festival City to watch ABS-CBN kapamilya stars on ASAP Live.
The show was a way of thanking kapamilyas and celebrating The Filipino Channel 's 20th anniversary.
Aside from the stars, ABS-CBN top executives including Chairman Gabby Lopez, Global Ltd. Chief Operations Officer Raffy Lopez, President and CEO Charo Santos-Concio, Broadcast head Cory Vidanes, and former ABS-CBN head Freddie Garcia, also came in full force.
"Maraming, maraming salamat po sa pagsuporta nyo po ninyo sa amin sa TFC and congratulations to Global for 20 years of fine enjoyment," said chairman Lopez.
Executives from OSN, the exclusive distributor of TFC in the Middle East were also present during the event.
"It’s a pleasure for me to say that we would like to be the link between Filipino in the region and the Filipino country because they are wonderful people," said Vice Chairman Faisal Al-Ayyar.
Some Filipinos traveled all the way from Kuwait just to party with their favorite showbiz personalities.
"Gusto ko lang makapanood ng ASAP," a Pinay beauty advisor from Kuwait said.
"Pumunta po ako ng ASAP because I'm very excited to see yung celebrities lalo na nandito kami sa Dubai it's really hard to watch them live. Ang gusto ko po talagang makita is Zia Quizon because she has a very beautiful voice," said Donna, a Dubai-based student.
Fans also came in bearing placards with the names of their idols written on it.
"I’m proud to say that I was there from the beginning of TFC all the way to this present day. Seeing the growth, not just of the Filipino people, yong kapamilya pati yong TFC, after 20 years still the best," said Martin Nievera.
Gary Valenciano added, "For me, the performance was extra special because 2014 I was chosen to be the ambassador for TFC. It’s the people that make the difference and I think that’s what I really enjoyed about Dubai parang everybody was here for one reason and that was to have fun. To accept and receive as much of home as much as they could and I think that’s what we gave them."
