BURBANK, Calif. – With over a hundred guests, friends and members of the Quizon family celebrated the fifty-first birthday of Dolphy’s daughter Kit , while remembering the late king of comedy.

"Dad may be gone, but as I said earlier he’ll always be a part of every Quizon event. His spirit lives on in our hearts," said Kit.

Members of the Quizon clan from throughout California came to Burbank, including two of Dolphy’s former partners; Kit’s mother Gloria Smith and Baby Smith, the mother of Eric Quizon.

In all, five children and about a dozen grand children attended, who sang a special tribute for their late Lolo.

It’s been six months since Dolphy passed away and the family is still coping with the fact that Dolphy is no longer physically there to greet them on special occasions.

"Of course it’s sad, very sad because this is the first Christmas that he’s not with the family but we’re holding on,” said Baby Smith.

As the push to have Dolphy recognized with a National Artist award in the Philippines continues, the family is welcoming recent reports that say Manila Mayor Fred Lim plans to build a statue of the late King of Comedy.

"That’ll be wonderful, if they do that it’ll be a blessing for everybody, for them to remember how he existed,” said Dolphy’s son Edwin.

Despite a festive celebration for the Quizon family, another member of the Quizon clan passed away, Dolphy’s sister musician Josie Quizon Andico had passed away over the weekend shortly after the reunion.
