SAUDI ARABIA – Two Filipinos were hurt after two Saudi Arabian nationals beat them up and attempted to snatch their cellphones last January 15 in Abha City.
The bloodied victims were identified as waiters Jay Vash and Totoy Banzuela.
Binuhat ko siya," Vash described the state of fellow worker Banzuela.
Banzuela's left eyebrow had to be stitched after the incident.
The two said they were waiting for a ride on their way to work when two suspects arrived on a car. One of them got down and approached them while holding a green bottle which was used to hit Banzuela.
Not contented with beating them up, the suspect also drew out a knife which Vash described as similar to the Philippine balisong.
May kutsilyo ang dalawa alam mo yun," said Vash.
However, the suspects ran away after other Saudi Arabian nationals arrived to help the Filipinos.
According to Saudi Police in the Asser region, the incident is the first reported crime involving gangs in 2014. Gang syndicates are allegedly targeting Filipino commuters using out of line taxis along the national highway. Report from Andy Relox, ABS-CBN Middle East News Bureau
