ROME – Filipinos in Rome waited in line to get a glimpse, and to personally shake the hands of the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, during his parochial visit.

Another Filipino worker Lilia Toledo said she is just thankful to be given the opportunity to be near the Pope.

"Akala ko ako'y hindi na makakalapit dahil ako'y may diperensya na," she said.

For Josie de Torres, her personal intention is dedicated to the Philippines.

"Ang bansang Pilipinas na sana ang pinagdadaanang kalamidad ay malagpasan," she said.

Filipinos also took the chance to express their gratitude to the Pope for appointing Orlando Quevedo as one of the 16 new cardinals.

Report from Diego Evangelista, ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau
