MANILA, Philippines - A Filipina nurse, described by newspapers as a "Satanist", has been fined £800 (around P59,000) by a Swiss court for posting photos of herself next to dying or dead patients on Facebook.
The Daily Mail identified the Filipina nurse as 37-year old Blaze Binder, who goes by the name Ghostinthedark Satania Blaze on Facebook. She also described herself as a "soul thief" and even wrote "Hail Satan" on her Facebook page.
Binder reportedly posted photos with elderly Swiss patients and then asked her 2,000 Facebook friends to guess if the elderly patients were dead or alive.
A court in Saint Gallen in Switzerland found Binder guilty of "violating the peace of the dead" and breach of trust.
Aside from the fine, the court issued a suspended fine equivalent to 120 days of pay.
The Daily Mail published several photos of Binder, including one showing her smiling as she posed next to a patient. The photos were reportedly taken in January 2012, at a care home in Mogelsberg.
Other photos showed Binder in a red latex nurse's uniform and licking a knife, as well as her stash of dominatrix tools.
Binder was also reportedly a dominatrix, describing herself as a "queen of pleasures."
When the case broke out last year, newspaper Blick interviewed Binder, who said the photos were "beautiful". She also said she does not understand why people are bothered by her photos.
The Swiss national nurses' federation had earlier said it was "shocked and saddened" by the case.
"To be able to prevent the repeat of such a case, there is a desperate need for an active professional register and attractive working conditions to counteract the acute shortage of staff... Whether this was a qualified nurse, a professional carer or a simple assistant, it is clear that people like this should not be in the health sector," the federation said.
