MANILA - The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) congratulated overseas Filipino worker Rose "Osang" Fostanes for her win in X Factor Israel.
"I congratulate Rose Fostanes for her victory. She is rare," said DOLE Chief Rosalinda Baldoz.
Baldoz said Fostanes' victory brings joy and pride to the Philippines.
"She just showed the world that a Filipino worker is truly talented and can excel at whatever he or she sets her mind into. I congratulate her for being the hardworking person that she is and for pursuing her dreams," Baldoz said.
The caregiver in Tel Aviv is the first season winner of X Factor Israel. For the finals, Fostanes sang her rendition of a Frank Sinatra classic "My Way".
"Stories like that of Rose Fontanes will inspire all Filipino workers worldwide. In these times, it definitely helps that someone comes up front as a spring of hope from whom we can draw strength from. We are so proud of you," Baldoz said.
Of the estimated 36,000 OFWs in Israel, 29,000 are caregivers or nursing aides. Others are employed as drivers, household staff, temporary residence permit holders, trainees, missionaries, or members of the Philippine battalion in the United Nations Disengagement Observance Force (UNDOF), DOLE said.
