REDWOOD CITY – The US Coast Guard said a search is underway for a 34-year old Filipino national who went missing more than a thousand miles northeast of Hilo, Hawaii.

The Coast Guard said the still unidentified Filipino crew member jumped overboard the Grand Princess just past midnight on Monday.

A spokesperson for Princess Cruises of Santa Clarita, California said the Filipino intentionally jumped from the vessel as confirmed by the cruise ship's closed circuit video system.

The Grand Princess stated its voyage in San Francisco and was heading to Hawaii.
