MANILA - Ten years since her son went missing, Edita Burgos remains hopeful that justice will still prevail and that she will again see her third-born, Jonas.

This after Army Maj. Harry Baliaga Jr. was cleared of charges relating to her activist son's disappearance in 2007.

While she does not agree with the ruling, Edita said she respects the court's decision and would not be deterred in searching for her son.

"I look at this as just some kind of delay, but the search will continue and…we will find Jonas," she said in an interview on ANC Thursday.

Jonas Burgos, son of press freedom icon Jose Burgos, was allegedly abducted by 6 armed men and a woman at a restaurant in a mall in Quezon City on April 28, 2007.

The abductors used a vehicle with plate number TAB 194, later found to be in the custody of the Philippine Army's 56th Infantry Battalion.

Edita said she remains hopeful that at least one of those who took her son would have pity and tell her what really happened to him.

"My only prayer is that somebody who is involved in the abduction would come out in the open and clean up his act, and have pity on the family and say where Jonas is," she said.

"In His time, justice will be served. I think as a mother, there is no reason for me to give up whatever the delays because I know someone up there is really watching over Jonas," she added.

STILL PRAYING

Edita said she still prays that she would wake up one day to find her son.

"The constancy has not changed. I still pray for him every day. I pray that I find him on the day that I wake up, but in the evening when I go to sleep and he has not been found yet, I continue praying," she added.

Following Thursday's court ruling, Edita said she now prays for "strength to accept God’s will in reference to Jonas’ disappearance," she said.

"As long as I am living, there is still hope that I will find Jonas," she added.
