MANILA - The Philippines may have lost its first match in the FIBA World Cup in 36 years to Croatia, but Filipinos were more than proud of their national team.

Croatia edged Gilas Pilipinas, 81-78, at the Palacio Municipal de Deportes San Pablo in Spain on Saturday, despite a valiant effort led by naturalized player Andre Blatche, Jimmy Alapag, and Jeff Chan.
