MANILA - Senator Alan Peter Cayetano dismissed as "completely fabricated and malicious" the plunder and graft cases filed against him and his wife, Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano.

Cayetano expressed his willingness to resign if the charge of overprice in the purchase of multicabs in Taguig City is proven true.

"Sa multicabs, I challenge the Binays sabay kami pumasok sa mga supplier ng vehicles, mga ambulansya na binili namin. Pagka hindi yung price na binili namin magre-resign ako. Pero pag nakita nila na tama ang presyo, sila ang mag-resign," Cayetano told reporters.

He also denied misusing his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) and the allegation that the Taguig City government under his wife's administration hired ghost employees.

"Ang nasa report lang na Alan Cayetano is P2.7 million. Sinabi lang hindi misuse kundi 'documentary requirements' which the barangays have all provided and the COA (Commission on Audit) never used 'ghost.' All of the equipment and all of the things purchased is present," he said.

"Pag dating naman doon sa sinasabi nilang casuals, mismong COA report never used the word 'ghost,' 'possibility of ghost,' etcetera. In fact ang sabi ng COA report they verified na each and every employee ay pumapasok. Mas gusto lang nila na regular, kaso sa job order..."

Cayetano also questioned the timing of the filing of charges by those, he said, were classmates of Makati Rep. Abigail Binay, pointing out that it coincided with the Blue Ribbon subcommittee hearing on the alleged overpricing in the construction of a building by the Makati City Hall.
