Escudero a no-show in Albay sorties

ALBAY, Philippines- Re-electionst Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero was not able to attend any of the Albay sorties today.

Although absent from the rallies, the controversy surrounding Escudero's relationship with actress Heart Evangelista was a hot topic among Team PNoy candidates.

Evangelista's mother recently urged Escudero to stay away from her daughter, calling the senator disrespectful and a drunk.

Team PNoy candidate and Aurora Rep. Sonny Angara said the issue against Escudero might have been created to derail Escudero's campaign, considering that Escudero has been consistently landing near the top of the surveys.

Angara's advise to Escudero and Evangelista? Make love not war.

Re-electionist Sen. Koko Pimentel, meanwhile, said he texted Escudero regarding the issue to tell him that he could relate with baseless accusations.

Pimentel said that the campaign trail has been replete with personal attacks against each other, drawing from his personal experience against political rival Miguel Zubiri.

Pimentel questioned the timing of the controversy since it could have been used against Escudero before and not during campaign period.

This was echoed by another Team PNoy bet, former senator Ramon "Jun" Magsaysay Jr.

"Mukhang may nag-provoke daw sa family ni Heart," he revealed.

Senate bet Risa Hontiveros called for a ceasefire in the personal attacks in the campaign. She said candidates should focus more on policies and not personal lives.

Another Team PNoy candidate, Cynthia Villar, gave this advice to Escudero: Marry the girl, you also marry the family.

Jamby Madrigal, another Team PNoy bet, said she does not believe Escudero's standing in the surveys will be affected by the controversy.

She noted: "Make sure na if he speaks from the heart, he speaks the truth. The people will give him justice."
