MANILA – Senator Antonio Trillanes on Saturday said he supports the proposal of fellow Senator Alan Peter Cayetano for a “special court” that will fast-track the resolution of the pork barrel scam cases.

The senator told DZMM he believes certain public officials are prolonging the investigations on the pork barrel scam for personal and political gain.

“Their game plan, I believe, ay pahabain ito, until may manalo na presidente na kaalyado nila… dadahan-dahanin na yan,” Trillanes said.

The outcome of the investigation, he claimed, if prolonged until the next presidential elections, depends on who wins in the 2016 polls.

“Depende sa mananalo sa 2016, kasi konektado yan,” he said.

According to Trillanes, this is the primary reason why the alleged pork barrel scam mastermind, Janet Lim Napoles, has opted to deny any wrongdoing.

“Kaya hindi nagsasalita si Mrs. Napoles, ganun din ang kanyang pananaw. Kung mananalo ang kandidatong ito, mawawala na ang kasong ito, dahan dahan,” he said.

Asked who this candidate is, Trillanes identified Vice President Jejomar Binay.

“Hindi naman niya pinagkakaila na kaalyado nya [ang mga sangkot sa scam], pinagtatanggol nya. Kung mananalo si Vice President Binay, mapapawalang sala yung involved dito,” he said.

Trillanes said it is in the interest of the Aquino administration to fast-track the resolution of the pork barrel scam cases.

“Unfortunately, it is out of their hands, kasi nasa Ombudsman na, and then sa Sandiganbayan,” he said.

Trillanes also said he agrees with Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago's assessment that on-leave Technology Resource Center director-general Dennis Cunanan is a credible witness.

“I agree with Senator Miriam, dahil nakapagbigay si Mr. Cunanan ng information na hindi naibigay ni Benhur Luy at ibang testigo,” he said.

Cunanan testified that Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Bong Revilla personally called him up to fast-track the paperwork for the release of funds to NGOs of Napoles. In the case of Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, he said he dealt with his then chief of staff, Gigi Reyes.

NOT TRUE, SAYS UNA

However, on Thursday (March 6), the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) said allies of Binay who will be proven guilty of pocketing public funds will not go scot-free in case the latter succeeds in his presidential bid in 2016.

"Human rights lawyer si Vice President Binay at tinitiyak namin na kapag sya ang naging Pangulo, kahit mga kaalyado namin pero napatunayang guilty ng korte sa PDAF scam o kahit anong katiwalian, pananagutin sila sa kanilang mga kasalanan," UNA secretary-general Toby Tiangco said in a press statement.

"Justice is color-blind. Whoever committed a crime cannot expect any favor or refuge from VP Binay--hindi nya pagbibigyan ang sinumang nagkasala sa batas," he added.
