On February 25, 1986, as crowds continued to swell at the EDSA highway, then president Ferdinand Marcos held his own inauguration ceremonies in Malacanang Palace.
Meanwhile, Benigno 'Ninoy' Aquino's widow, Corazon Aquino, was sworn in as the duly elected president at Club Filipino in San Juan.
By night, the Marcos family was scrambling to leave Malacanang, packing possessions, afraid for their lives. The first helicopter that transported the Marcoses left the Palace at 9:05 pm.
As soon as people learned that the Marcoses had left, celebration took place: people stormed Malacanang, dancing and cheering. Twenty years of Marcos rule finally ended.
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the 4-day EDSA People Power, ABS-CBN relives the events that led to the historic event. #AralngEDSA
