'Team PNoy, UNA too focused on chasing common bets'
Start of campaign period 'boring': political analyst
MANILA -- The first two days of the official election campaign period for national positions have been "boring," a political analyst said Thursday.
Institute for Political and Electoral Reform Executive Director Ramon Casiple said both the Liberal Party-led Team PNoy and United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) have been too focused on the three common candidates instead of voters.
He also noted that the proclamation rallies held by both coalitions seemed to highlight only the personalities of their senatorial candidates, not their platforms.
Casiple said candidates should instead lay out their platforms on how they can improve the lives of the Filipino people.
He added that Team PNoy and UNA should stop fighting over petty issues which are not relevant to the voters.
"Meron pa namang panahon e... I would expect na papasok talaga sila sa mga real issues pero 'yung ganitong takbo ngayon eh dapat ihinto na nila bago pa lumala 'yung ganyang klaseng bangayan," Casiple said.
On Chiz, Loren, Grace
Casiple said he believes the three common candidates, Senators Loren Legarda and Francis "Chiz" Escudero and former Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Chairperson Grace Poe, seriously face the risk of being dropped from the ticket of UNA if they continue to snub the party's campaign sorties.
He also noted that President Benigno Aquino II has been vocal on his stand that common candidates should only join the campaign sorties of Team PNoy.
-- With dzMM
