Re: Boy Abunda as Tourism Secretary?

He's going to be superb. I think nobody knows the Philippines better than Boy Abunda. Contrary to rumors, an entertainer can be the best person for the job. Take the late Ronald Reagan who was previously a B-grade actor and had not won an Oscar. As two-time President of the USA, Ronald Reagan was much loved and revered. He made Americans feel good about themselves, and even dodge an assassin's bullet. Arnold Schwarzenegger was an entertainer too, a former actor, and now, Mayor of California. As entertainer, Mata Hari turned out to be a deadly spy. God alone knows the exact tally of how many heads of state she had decommissioned.

RE: Breach of Immigration Law

Officers and members of Fil-Am Fil-Can Alliance, a foreign based apolitical group and the conduit of a large number of land and sea-based Filipino workers worldwide are bringing to your attention today an alleged breached of immigration law committed by Her Exellency the outgoing Philippine President Gloria M. Arroyo in issuing an appointment to Mr. Gary Olivar as a Deputy Presidential Spokesman in the Office of the President, Malacanang Palace without first renouncing his American citizenship.

RE: Political dynasties

There is an anti-dynasty bill languishing in Congress and it appears members of Congress do not have the appetite to push it into aa law. One hundred and fifty political families control the country’s political destiny which directly impacts on the people’s social and economic lives, among other things. This inequality in distribution of political power reflects the “imperfection in democratic representation.” and the engine for corruption.

Re: Palace calls for healing cabinet meeting

Healing is good, but Celia Capadocia-Yangco, Acting Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, is offering it to the wrong person. Noynoy is just starting, he cannot be that sick already but if he is, he's better off seeing his doctor or his spiritual adviser. A palace healing brokered by Celia Capadocia-Yangco who probably has hidden agenda and is seeking permanent appointment herself - smells ratty.

RE: A smoking president? How about boozing, gambling, and womanizing?

Are we not being naïve to feel annoyed by a smoking president when in fact we overwhelming elected another one notorious for boozing, gambling, and womanizing? Some people do see only the hole in the donut. Why do we chide the president’s for his only vice when he has more virtues that can fill your drawers which our youth can emulate?

RE: Danton Remoto’s column

Today, I read your column posted yesterday, and I do admire your love for the nation. I believe that there is revival of love for the country among youth and old today. I hope this country will find its rightful place soon - so that when we get old surely someday, we have rich stories to share with our kids and the next generations.

RE: PCOS machine manipulation

If Atty. Homobono Adaza and Manuel Morato’s claims were true, that somebody asked Morato to be the conduit of scammers (PCOS) machine magicians na kaya nilang i-manipulate or doctorin and results ng electronic counting votes in favor of a paying candidate like Gibo Teodoro who ran for the presidency last June 30 and others for a fee of 1 billion pesos.

RE: Jejespeak and the young ones

Education secretary Mona Valisno is right to be concerned of jejespeak. These days one needs good grasp of English grammar in order to secure jobs in English speaking countries like USA, Canada, UK, etc., and also here in our country.

RE: Smartmatic not smart after all

The billions of pesos that Smartmatic has demanded for a fast, accurate, and credible election is surely proving to be too much money for so little return. The automated election that this hi-tech agency flaunted has been exposed to be riddled with basic and damaging flaws: electronically transmitted data can be intercepted and/or altered, flash cards can be duplicated, and many machines have been found to be pigs in a poke.
