At the rate politicians switch parties it’s like they were changing socks, the political scene looks like a Rigodon de Honor. Only there is no honor involved here. These politicians change party line for selfish interest and political survival. Parties are supposed to be institutions bound by philosophies, principles, ethics and common goals by those who chose to embrace them.
Apparently these party-hoppers have no respect for such lofty words. It seems that it is the parties that get into personalities in stead of the other way round. Among politicians, political parties make men, not the men who constitute themand make parties.are mere designer jeans that they can always There are only three men of principles they look up to and that’s Messrs “I, me, and myself”.
To back my contention, here is a partial list of these political butterfrogs.
Loren Legarda – embraced the Nationalista Party of Manny Villar whom she accused of graft in the C5 but whom she admitted in the interview that she is willing to accept financial support if offered by Villar.
Chiz Escudero – left the NPC, the very party which raised his political life.
Q.C. Mayor Belmonte and daughter tagging along his Vice Bistek- joined Noynoy’s band wagon for reasons still unknown.
Erap- After signing a covenant of political self-restraint and prohibition with GMA who pardoned him, he ignored such a deal and is now running for President
Ralph Recto and wife Vilma – an admin candidate last year, joined the Liberal Party.
Tito Sotto – also a loser from the admin team last year, is running again for Senator this time under the NPC.
Ebdane – resigned as cabinet secretary to run as an independent
