Commissioner Jose Melo is worrying if Smartmatic can deliver the 82,000 counting machine three or four months before May 2010.
The problem with us is we do not plan things thoroughly before we act. We heard an automated poll will speed up the canvassing of votes and immediately we wanted to automate Philippine elections.
First of all, will the 82,000 counting machines be available by the time we need it? Not sure. Second, will poll automation solve our headache everytime we conduct elections, whether it is local or national? Still not sure. So why do we want poll automation?
We are not children anymore, whenever we want things we say we want them but in the end we find we don't need it.
It’s better to move slowly but surely, rather than rapidly but unsurely.
What we want from our public servants are honesty and transparency whether he or she is an appointed or elected official or not.
Tell us the real score. Can you or can't you? It’s as simple as that. Why not just resign.
