MANILA, Philippines -- Jake Cuenca is enlisting the help of his newest leading lady, Eugene Domingo, in making a smooth transition from TV drama to big screen comedy.
The Kapamilya actor is set to co-star with the award-winning comedienne in the upcoming comedy film "Tuhog."
"Marami na akong kwentong nagawa in the past pero never akong na-intimidate. Pero ganon kagaling si Ms. Eugene Domingo. Nakita ko pa lang presence niya, ang galing niyang umarte," Cuenca was quoted as saying by entertainment news site Push.com.ph
And to be her leading man is truly an honor for me kasi isa siya sa mga pinakahinahanggaan kong babae sa industriya," he added.
In an earlier interview, Domingo said "Tuhog" is written by Ronnie Velasco and Jinky Laurel. Their previous big screen project, "Last Supper No. 3," won Best Film at the 2009 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival.
"Tuhog" will be released under Skylight Films, a division of ABS-CBN's film production outfit Star Cinema.
Asked to explain the story of the film in a nutshell, Domingo instead related the lessons that can be drawn from "Tuhog."
Lahat ng tao, kahit anong edad, lahat kayo matatamaan, lahat kayo matutuhog," she said.
Of starring in his first comedy film, Cuenca said he asked Domingo to guide him through the filming of "Tuhog."
