MANILA, Philippines -- Four years since she last came out with a studio album, Lani Misalucha is raring to return to the recording studio to come up with a new record.
"Matagal na akong walang album. Of course, sino ba naman ang 'di looking forward for more work to do?" Misalucha, 43, was quoted as saying by entertainment news site Push.com.ph.
Misalucha's last studio album was the holiday-themed "The Gift of Christmas," released in 2008.
Prior to the album's release, Misalucha had already relocated to the United States, where she continued performing and earned a name for herself as a sought-after Las Vegas songstress.
This year, she is celebrating the Yuletide season in the Philippines with her family.
For the singer, dubbed "Asia's Nightingale," releasing a new album would mean "more work for me... and more money for tuition for [my] kids.”
"You know, it’s not easy to have kids studying abroad. 'Yung elementary, high school walang problema kasi public school lang naman, pero once your children are in college, that’s when duguan ang bayaran ng kolehiyo," the singer added.
Misalucha has two children, now 21 and 19. Both arrived in the Philippines recently to celebrate the Christmas season here.
"We’ve been in New York for nine years, although umuuwi kami every now and then," Misalucha said. "Hindi pa kami nakapag-spend ng Christmas [in the Philippines] since 2004, so for eight years 'di talaga kami nakapag-Christmas (dito)."
"So it would really really be an exciting time and day for my daughters to spend Christmas here," she added.
