MANILA, Philippines – If Hubert Webb’s life will be turned into a major motion picture, actor Jake Cuenca is willing to take on the role of the lead character.
Cuenca said it will be an interesting role to portray.
"Siyempre 'yong Vizconde massacre masarap na bigyan ng buhay 'yon kasi may awareness din doon. Ako when it comes to awareness movie, gustong gusto ko 'yon. So to portray Hubert Webb, I'd be very interested to do it," Cuenca said.
The actor's statement came weeks after Webb said he is open to the idea of a film about his life.
In a previous exclusive interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Webb said it would be presumptuous to think that someone would be willing to put up money to do a movie about his life. He added that he would only agree to share his life story if he knows where the film's earnings would go.
"Siguro. Kung doon ilalagay ang pera sa plano ko? Sure. Honestly to educate. To be able to, hindi ba kasi ang iba ang problema ay nakukulong, bakit ba tayo nakukulong? Hindi ba kasi maraming anak. Bakit nakukulong? Hindi nakakapag-aral. So kailangan ipabatid natin sa mga ano, (sa mag-asawa) na kung marami kayong anak hindi mo maibibigay ang mga kailangan niya para makalaban sa society. Kapag doon ka nakapag-umpisa sa basic mas may chance tayo to get out of poverty," he said.
Webb said that up to now he has no idea if he is going to support a certain foundation or have his own foundation to materialize his plan of helping others. He said his long-time plan is to help educate people.
"You know it's something that before I wanted. So if I have to join some (foundation) I would," he said.
Asked if he has someone in mind who would play his life in a movie, Webb replied: "Wala, not even that far."
Webb was convicted for the gruesome Vizconde massacre that happened on June 30, 1991.
After 15 years of incarceration, the Supreme Court acquitted Webb and 5 others. -Reports from Reyma Buan-Deveza, abs-cbnNEWS.com and Showbiz News Ngayon
