MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) – President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III on Sunday took time off his busy schedule to attend the red carpet premiere of his youngest sister’s horror movie.
In a live interview at the Trinoma mall where the movie premiere took place, Noynoy said he graced the event to show his support to Kris Aquino’s latest film, “Dalaw,” which the actress-host co-produced.
Besides, he also noted, “Christmas is supposed to be [about the] family.”
The rest of the Aquino siblings, as well as the television host's 2 sons, also attended the event.
“I’m really hoping for the success of this film, her first venture. We’re here to support nga po. More than anything kami po magkakasamang magkakapatid, mga pamangkin natin. Talagang nakakatuwang Pasko, magkakasama kaming lahat,” the President said.
When asked about his date, the President, in a separate interview, said his youngest sister was his date for the night.
Kris chimed in: "Of course, para wholesome."
"At my family values," the President quickly added.
Celebrity stylist Liz Uy, who dated Noynoy briefly, was also present during the event. She quietly arrived at the venue and sneaked into the cinema to avoid any media attention.
Also present were Diether Ocampo, Kris’s leading man in the movie, Alessandra De Rossi, Coco Martin and executives from ABS-CBN.
Show of support
Kris said she is thankful for her siblings’s support. “I’m really thankful na ang mga kapatid ko talagang ginawa ang lahat para ma-suportahan ako because this is my first venture as co-producer.”
As for her brother’s personal life, Kris reiterated that she is keeping her distance, and that her brother will always have her support.
“Kung sino man ang magpapaligaya sa kanya, mamahalin ko ng buong buo at aalagaan ko pa,” she said. ‘Kung ano ang gusto ni ‘Noy, ‘yon ang gusto ko.”
Earlier, in an interview on radio station dzRB, deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said Noynoy is watching “Dalaw” as a show of support.
“Dadalaw siya sa ‘Dalaw’…. para magbigay suporta sa kapatid,” Valte said.
“Dalaw” is one of the entries to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). It is also Kris’s movie after 4 years, following her first 2 blockbuster horror films.
According to Kris, her estranged husband, cager James Yap, has a cameo role in “Dalaw.”
The film is graded B by Cinema Evaluation Board and rated PG 13 by the the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board.
