The 39-year-old comedian-host confirmed the news to entertainment website Philippine Entertainment Portal at the sidelines of a recent press conference for "Si Agimat, Si Enteng, At Si Ako."
The fantasy-comedy flick is one of the film entries to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival. Lapus co-stars with Vic Sotto, Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla, Jr., and Judy Ann Santos in the film.
On his homecoming to ABS-CBN, Lapus said, "Original family ko naman ang Dos kasi diyan ako unang nakilala. Mula production ay naging talent ako hanggang sa maging TV host ako."
"Kaya kung bumalik man ako, parang bumabalik lang ako sa dati kong tahanan," the gay comedian said.
In 2006, Lapus transferred to GMA-7 where he hosted a number of showbiz-oriented talk shows. Even then, the comedy actor would occasionally make appearances in Kapamilya projects.
Explaining the reason behind his signing up anew with ABS-CBN, Lapus said, "Alam naman ng marami na naging loyal ako sa GMA-7 for 6 years. Masaya akong naging Kapuso. Pero kung wala nga silang mabigay sa akin, kailangan ko ring maghanap ng pagkakakitaan."
"Alam niyo naman na marami tayong bayarin, lalo na ang bahay ko. Isama na natin ang iba't ibang gastusin araw-araw. Kailangan ko lang na magkaroon ng pagkakakitaan nang regular. Maiintindihan naman siguro ng marami iyon," he said.
According to Lapus, his first project as a returning Kapamilya is a new TV series co-starring Angeline Quinto and Sam Milby.
