Richard Yap talks to Anthony Taberna for 'Tapatan ni Tunying'

MANILA – Actor-entrepreneur Richard Yap thinks Filipinos should elect leaders who can run the country like a successful business.

In an interview with Anthony Taberna for “Tapatan ni Tunying,” Yap, who has opened several restaurants while pursuing a showbiz career, was quizzed on how public officials should serve the people.

I think the Philippines should be run like a business na everyone is paid to do their jobs but no one is allowed to steal. Kapag nagnakaw ka, tanggal ka,” he said.

Yap also shared his thoughts on what makes a good president.

“It should be someone with honor. Pangangalagaan niya yung reputasyon niya. Kailangan kasi ng bansa natin is someone with honor, who knows how to honor his commitments… 'yung marunong mag-alaga ng mga tao. Parang pamilya mo yan eh. You should treat the Philippines like your own family,” he said.

But at the same time, Yap concedes that businessmen tend to flee from politics.

I’ve known of a few people who went into politics na meron silang magandang intensyon. So it will end up na wala silang magagawa,” he said.
