MANILA, Philippines – Now on their second big screen project together under ABS-CBN, Angelica Panganiban feels that Dingdong Dantes is right at home working with "rival" Kapamilya stars.
"Nakakatuwa kasi sabi ko nga si Dingdong, parang akala mo Kapamilya star siya," the prized Star Magic talent was quoted as saying by entertainment news site Push.com.ph. "Sobra siyang nagiging out talaga sa mga tao, sa mga katrabaho niya."
After their team-up in Star Cinema's "Segunda Mano" last year, Panganiban, 26, and Dantes, 32, will portray a married couple anew in the upcoming romance-drama film "One More Try,"
Like the 2011 horror flick, the Ruel Bayani film is also under ABS-CBN's film production outfit, and is an entry to the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
Last year, Dantes, who is a GMA-7 contract artist, won Best Actor for his role in "Segunda Mano" at the 2011 MMFF. Panganiban, on the other hand, won Best Supporting Actress at the 60th FAMAS Awards earlier this year for her role in the same film.
Referring to her two-time leading man, Panganiban said, "Hindi mo mararamdaman na taga-ibang network siya or naiilang siya. Siguro dahil pangalawang project na rin niya kasama kami."
'Protective leading man'
In "One More Try," the Kapamilya actress portrays Jacqueline, a feisty businesswoman whose marriage with Dantes' character, Edward, is put to a challenge when a woman from his past resurfaces.
Grace (Angel Locsin) and Edward's son is suffering from a worsening rare blood condition. The former couple are forced to reconnect -- to the point of having to naturally conceive another child -- as therein lies the cure to their son's illness.
According to Panganiban, Locsin and Dantes' parts in the story will have them do a number of intimate scenes. But for her part, Panganiban said her "love scenes" with the dramatic actor were filmed without a hitch, crediting his being a "protective" leading man.
"Napaka-protective niya, na ayaw niyang masilipan or ayaw niyang maramdaman ng ka-eksena niya na, 'Uy baka feeling nito nababastos ko na siya or baka sumusobra na ako, lumalampas na ako sa boundaries ko,’" she said.
"Wala akong mararamdamang ganoon sa kanya. In fairness sa kanya, siya ang pinakamagaling mag-handle ng leading lady sa mga nakaeksena ko," Panganiban added.
Also starring Zanjoe Marudo, Carmina Villaroel, Agot Isidro, Edward Mendez, and Gina Pareño, "One More Try" along with Star Cinema's "Sisterakas" hit theaters nationwide on Christmas Day.
