Things may not be back to the way it was before between Robin Padilla and his daughter, Kylie, who had a son out of wedlock.
But things are looking up after they got a chance to talk following all the brouhaha surrounding Kylie's sudden pregnancy.
They met at the first birthday party of Robin's son with Mariel Rodriguez, and the actor shared on "Tonight With Boy Abunda" on Friday what he learned from their heart-to-heart.
"Lalo ko siyang hinangaan," he said. "Noong una, akala ko hindi kaya nito. Ano lang ito, 'pag-ibig na nagkamali.' Pero hindi ganoon. Pinatunayan niya sa akin na, 'Kaya ko at hindi mo kailangan mag-alala.' Napakatapang."
He added that her daughter looks "happy" and that he hopes she would realize the importance of marriage.
"Sana lang mas lumawak ang kaisipan niya sa usapin ng doing what is right," he said. "Maganda maging mag-asawa. Wala naman pinakamagandang regalo pa sa apo ko kung hindi nakataas ang noo niya at ang kanyang mga magulang ay legal, sa harap ng Diyos at sa harap mo."
Kylie is engaged to the father of her child, Aljur Abrenica.
In a previous "Tonight With Boy Abunda" interview, Abrenica said he has apologized to Robin in an attempt to get on his good side.
"Kung mapapanood niya man ito, kung may nagawa man ako na sa tingin ninyo ay hindi maganda or naging kasalanan ko, humihingi na po ako ng sorry sa inyo," he said.
Robin was on the late-night talk show to promote his new movie, "Unexpectedly Yours," his first with Sharon Cuneta in a long while.
