MANILA - ABS-CBN's new Primetime Bida offering "Dream Dad" debuted to strong ratings on Monday, according to Kantar Media, making it the most watched TV program across the country for the day.

The Zanjoe Marudo-starrer garnered a national TV rating of 29% to rank first in the list of top-rated shows in both urban and rural areas, based on a nationwide panel size of 2,609 homes that represent 100% of the Philippine TV viewing population.

"Dream Dad's" pilot episode led four other Kapamilya shows that currently air on primetime -- "TV Patrol" (27.2%), "Forevermore" (26.3%), "Bagito" (24.4%), and "Two Wives" (21.4%).

Directed by Jeffrey Jeturian, "Dream Dad" centers on Baste (Marudo), a bachelor company president who is trying to move on from a heartbreak by focusing on his family.

He crosses paths with Baby (Agoncillo), a bright and inquisitive orphan girl who is looking for a family that will love and accept her. When they meet at her orphanage, Baby quickly takes a liking to her would-be father figure.

Joining Marudo and Agoncillo in "Dream Dad" are Maxene Magalona, Beauty Gonzales, Yen Santos, Ana Feleo, Katya Santos, Ketchup Eusebio, Ariel Ureta and Gloria Diaz.

The series marks the actor's return to ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida after "Annaliza," which concluded in March 2014. In the remake of the 1980 soap opera, Marudo played the adoptive father of the title character portrayed by child actress Andrea Brillantes.

Agoncillo, meanwhile, was last seen as the young Natalia in the recently concluded "Ikaw Lamang." Before the Coco Martin-starrer, Agoncillo also appeared in ABS-CBN's "Honesto."
