Actor John Estrada said that he and actress Gretchen Barretto still remain good friends after the controversial "kiss scandal" which surfaced June of this year.
"Okay naman although I haven't seen her for a while. Doon lang kami nagkita sa event na 'yon but everything turned out fine. We were civil enough 'hi hello,' wala naman kaming problema. You know Gretchen is a wonderful person. Kung kilala niyo lang talaga siya and we are friends, we remain as friends," Estrada said.
It will be recalled that two kissing photos of Barretto and Estrada circulated on the internet and cellphones. Through the actress' manager Boy Abunda, she admitted that the photos were real.
Abunda said that there was no affair going on between the two and that Barretto hated herself for allowing the incident to happen.
Estrada in a statement apologized to Barretto and her loved ones for any hurt the photos may have caused.
"I believe that many feelings have been hurt by all this, and I take the responsibility to set things right. I am taking the blame. I am not using as an excuse a night of partying and drinking, but really, we were all good friends there, enjoying a private, surprise party. The kiss began there and ended there. No one has the right to judge Ms. Gretchen. She is a good person. We have been friends since the early ’90s. She does not deserve all the ugly talk.”
Aside from taping a sitcom for another station, Estrada is gearing up for his comeback movie entitled "Estrella."
"Estrella," a film directed by Rico Ilarde is said to be the biggest horror movie produced by ABS-CBN's movie outfit Star Cinema.
For the film, Estrada will also be working with young stars like Maja Salvador, Shaina Magdayao, Geoff Eigenmann and Jake Cuenca.
