MANILA – Mariel Rodriguez on Friday clarified that aside from receiving the sacrament of baptism in a Catholic church, her daughter Isabella also had her Aqiqah in accordance with the Islam religion.
In an Instagram post, Rodriguez explained that while she is a Catholic and Padilla is a Muslim, “there is no compulsion” in Islam.
“When Isabella is older she can decide what her religion will be. As parents it is our duty to teach our children how to respect ALL religions. It is also our responsibility to guide them but never to dictate to them,” she said.
Isabella’s baptism was held at the National Shrine of Saint Michael & the Archangels, while her Aqiqah was held at the Malago Clubhouse in Malacañang on Thursday.
Among Isabella’s godparents is President Rodrigo Duterte.
The daughter of the celebrity couple turned one last November 14.
