MANILA, Philippines – Former actress Nadia Montenegro went to the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday to attend the preliminary investigation into the falsification of public documents charges she filed against her kids’ talent manager, Annabelle Rama.

Accompanying her were 2 of her children and her partner, former Caloocan City Mayor Boy Asistio.

The case, according to Montenegro, is separate from the child abuse and oral defamation and the 2 separate libel and unjust fixation charges she filed against Rama.

Montenegro said that this particular case refers to Rama’s alleged fabrication of contracts related to the handling of her 6 and 5-year-old kids’ showbiz careers.

“I received a text message from executives from the other network saying that Annabelle sent contract of my 2 kids,” Montenegro related.

“Ikinagulat ko talaga ‘yon because there was never a conversation, not even in our house na the 2 small ones are managed by her, so talagang ikinagulat ko ‘yon. And when I saw the signatures [on the contract], definitely it was not mine,” she added.

Rama was not present during the preliminary investigation.

However, she sent her legal counsel to attend on her behalf.

When asked why Rama decided to skip the session, her lawyer replied,  “Hindi naman kailangan ang presence niya ngayon eh.”

The next preliminary investigation hearing is scheduled on December 6.

Montenegro said she will have the allegedly falsified contracts checked by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

“The fiscal asked to have it (contracts) checked sa NBI, para sa next hearing meron na kaming pruweba and everything,” Montenegro said. -- Report from Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News
