James Yap OK's Baby James TV project

MANILA - Basketball player James Yap finally agreed to let his son James Yap Jr. or "Baby James" join show business.
Baby James is set to star in a television series with his celebrity mom, Kris Aquino. The toddler's first television project is set to be aired early next year.
Yap said his 3-year-old son was initially opposed to the idea of entering show business, but was later convinced by his mother.
"Tinanong niya (Kris) ako pero tinanong niya din si Baby James. Kung 'oo' (ang sagot ni) Baby James. So sabi ni Baby James una ay 'No! No!' Pero at least siguro ay na-convince niya (Kris) na," he said in an interview on the entertainment show "SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon."
"Okay na din 'yon para at least masanay (sa showbiz). Hindi ko alam kay Kris. Pagbigyan ko na lang siya kasi 'yon ang gusto niya. Pero bilang husband, kailangang mag-support na lang sa isa't isa. So 'yon lang sana ay maging maganda ang soap nila," Yap said.
Already famous
Yap said he was surprised and excited when he found out that his son agreed to star in a TV series. He said he noticed that the 3-year-old already has a flair for the cameras, just like his mother Kris.
"Hindi ako makapaniwala. Pero excited ako. Siguro pa-cute cute lang si Baby James muna doon. Ewan ko, kapag natutukan ng camera 'yon, baka magsalita yan," he said.
Yap said Baby James is ordinarily moody at home, but turns on his charm when faced with a crowd of people.
"Parang lumalabas na lang kasi sa bahay, parang moody 'yan. (Pero) sa labas ng bahay, kapag nakakakita siya ng maraming tao, talagag lumalabas ang pagka-showbiz niya. Siguro namana sa nanay," he said.

Yap, who married Kris Aquino in 2005, said his only demand for his wife is to make sure that Baby James will not be over-worked by his stint on the TV series.
"Basta hindi lang mapupuyat. Kasi bata pa 'yan, baka hindi na lumaki, so kawawa naman. Ganoon talaga. Sinabi ko kay Kris na, 'Once na lalabas yan sa soap mo, kailangan may curfew dahil kawawa naman ang bata pag napupuyat'," he said.
Despite his concerns, Yap said he is proud that Baby James is already famous at the tender age of 3.
Aquino and her youngest son had already recorded an educational album "We Are 1." Aquino, Baby James, and Josh (Aquino's son by actor Philip Salvador) also have a billboard advertisement with Bench, an apparel and cosmetics brand.
"Sobrang proud na proud ako sa mag-ina ko. At the same time, 'yong mga tao talaga ay nandoon ang support nila sa mag-ina ko, at sa mother-in-law (Cory Aquino) ko din. Natutuwa sila kapag nakkita nila ang mukha ni Baby James. Ibang klase na si Baby James ngayon, sobrang sikat na. Kaya sobrang proud ako," Yap said.
