MANILA -- "ASAP" regulars Angeline Quinto and Erik Santos are among the Filipino singers who are set to perform before the spouses of the APEC economic leaders at a luncheon on Thursday.
Despite their vast experience on stage, the two admitted that this performance is special for them.
Quinto has prepared a divas medley and Broadway show tunes for the show.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News' Jeff Fernando, she said she feels challenged about her repertoire.
"Actually medyo mahirap po ang mga songs na kakantahin ko doon. Sila po kasi ang pumili," she said. "Talagang pinaghahandaan ko po ito. 'Yung iba first time ko rin kakantahin like Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, at Whitney Houston. Sana mabuhay si Whitney at samahan ako doon."
"Isa pong napakalaking pribilehiyo bilang isang mang-aawit ang maging parte po ng APEC. Pinili po kami para kumanta sa first ladies ng APEC. Kapag mga ganitong celebration talagang sobrang proud din ako at para ito sa lahat ng mga Pinoy," she added.
Santos, who will be joining Quinto in a duet of "This I Promise You," admitted that he feels nervous with the performance.
"This time medyo nakaka-kaba kasi first time namin kumanta sa isang intimate lunch with some of the first ladies sa mundo," he said.
Apart from Quinto and Santos, singer-composer Ogie Alcasid will also be performing at the luncheon. They will also be joined by actors Derek Ramsay and Mateo Guidicelli.
The luncheon is being organized by the sisters of Philippine President Benigno Aquino III -- Kris Aquino, Ballsy Cruz, Pinky Abellada and Viel Dee.
