MANILA, Philippines -- ABS-CBN’s first kusina-serye "MasterChef Pinoy Edition" was off to a strong start after its pilot episode that featured host Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo and the inspiring stories of amateur chef auditionees on Monday claimed an early lead in ratings.
The local version of the hit culinary competition posted a national TV rating of 18.1%, according to latest data from Kantar Media, while its rival programs -- GMA’s Knock Out (9.7%) and Cielo de Angelina (6.7%) and TV5’s Face to Face (5.3%) -- trailed far behind.
Aside from trending on Twitter in the Philippines, it also claimed the eighth spot in the top 20 most watched programs in the country and even scored higher than all of GMA and TV5’s primetime series.
"MasterChef Pinoy Edition" which also features chef-judges Fernando Aracama, Rolando Laudico and JP Anglo, airs Mondays to Fridays before "Be Careful with My Heart" on ABS-CBN’s Umaganda block.
