MANILA - The country's Queen of Comedy Ai-Ai delas Alas turned 45 today, November 11. Born Martina Aileen de las Alas, Ai-Ai started her career as a skilled character actress.
Delas Alas is now considered to be one of the most influential personalities in showbiz. Aside from being known as the "Queen of Comedy", she is also called "Tanging Ina" and the "Comedy Box-Office Queen."
For her 45th birthday, delas Alas took the time to thank all the people who helped her through thick and thin, especially to her talent manager Boy Abunda and her film director Wenn Deremas.
"Sabi ko sa kanya, 'Ama thank you sa lahat ng ginawa mo for me. Thank you sa lahat ng pagmamahal mo sa akin, hindi lang sa akin pati sa mga anak ko. Thank you sa raket na binibigay mo sa akin. Kahit minsan wala ka nang komisyon, binibigay mo na lang sa akin," Delas Alas said.
"Si Direk Wenn naman sana ay marami pa tayong pelikulang pagsamahan. Direk, alam ko isa ka sa suwerte sa buhay ko. Kumbaga sa feng shui, tayo ang swak pagdatring sa pelikula," the comedienne added.
Deramas and Delas Alas just finished their latest film "Ang Tanging Pamilya" with Toni Gonzaga, Sam Milby and former president Joseph Estrada.
Under Star Cinema, "Ang Tanging Pamilya" premiered on November 10 at SM Megamall Cinema 10 in Ortigas.
For her birthday, Delas Alas joked that he asked the former president to give her a house and lot.
"Wala pa (ngang gift si Papa Erap) hinihintay ko pa. Sabi ko bigyan niya ako ng isang bahay sa Corinthians," she said.
Delas Alas raises her 3 children by ex-husband Miguel Vera by herself. She studied at the Center for Culinary Arts and opened her restaurant "Aisarap."
