MANILA, Philippines -- Despite the airing of the pilot episode of a new rival program, ABS-CBN's teen mermaid series "Aryana" was unmoved as the No. 1 most watched "fantaserye" nationwide.

According to the latest data of multinational market research group Kantar Media, the Primetime Bida series starring Ella Cruz earned 27.8% in national TV ratings last Monday (November 5), when the new competing show on GMA-7 aired its pilot episode.

The maiden telecast of "Paroa: Ang Kuwento ni Mariposa," according to Kantar Media, only managed to garner a nationwide TV rating of 15.5%.

"I just always strive to do my best at work," Cruz said when asked on shows competing with "Aryana." "I think it’s better to be focused on improving my craft instead of competing with others."

"I believe they’ll keep on following our story with the exciting challenges that Aryana will face in the coming weeks, especially now that her dad Victor (Tonton Gutierrez) already accepted her as his daughter," Cruz added.

Directed by Noreen Capili and Joel Mercado, "Aryana" airs weeknights before "TV Patrol" during ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block.

Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes, more than AGB Nielsen’s 1,980 homes that are only based in urban areas. Kantar Media’s panel represents 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population, while AGB Nielsen reportedly represents only 57% of the Philippine TV viewing population.
