MANILA, Philippines – Actor Richard Gomez is honored that his performance in the top-rating ABS-CBN series “Walang Hanggan” was recognized at the 26th Star Awards for TV 2012.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Thursday, Gomez said he is also thrilled to be competing against his “Walang Hanggan” co-star Coco Martin for the Best Actor trophy.
“I’m very happy, kami-kami rin ang magkakasama, magkakalaban. It doesn’t really matter who wins. What’s important is that we did a good show, we acted well together and whoever wins, we have to be happy for each other,” he said.
Gomez said he could not even remember the last time he won an acting award.
“My last award was Best Male Show Host for ‘Family Feud.’ As an actor, I don’t remember when. If I win, I’m going to dedicate it to Lucy (Torres-Gomez, his wife),” he said.
Now that “Walang Hanggan” already concluded its run, Gomez said it is now time for him to prepare for his 2013 bid to become mayor of Ormoc City
“We are preparing already for the upcoming elections. Medyo siyempre magiging hectic ang schedules namin kasi we’ll be going around the district, around Ormoc City. We need a lot of preparations and organizations,” he said.
As for his showbiz career, Gomez said he will still do TV guestings from time to time.
