MANILA, Philippines - Persian-Filipina Mohsyl Ensafian, or Ramona Revilla, gained fame in 1997 when many sexy stars were being named after the Philippines' top leading men in film.
This weekend, Ramona tied the knot with her fiance, American naval engineer Frederick Farrell.
However, the occasion was not the happy one she expected, as she received tons of hate messages online!
The messages on her Facebook page came from netizens who mistook her for Ramona Bautista, a daughter of former senator Ramon Revilla Sr., who is now a suspect in the killing of her own brother, Ramgen.
"I was shocked. I got like tons of calls, in my Facebook account saying I was a murderer. A lot, so bad. I did not have time to clear my name because of the wedding," she said.
"But U am not a murderer, I am not remotely connected to anything," she added.
However, but the 2 Ramonas aren't only connected by name.
The former sexy actress was a friend and neighbor to Ramgen. This is why she was saddened when she heard of his death.
"He was suppoed to here here [wedding]," she said. "We sent an invitation to him. He confirmed he's coming. He said I will wear a barong."
"It's sad. Ram, he is my very good. We became close. He called me ate. We even went to his birthday recently," she added.
Ramona is happy that she will now take on a new name.
"I am now Mrs. Farrell ! I'm happy now I finally found my man. I'm gonna settle for life," she said.
Ramona hopes that the Bautista family will find justice for the death of Ramgen. - report from Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News; ANC
