MANILA, Philippines - Veteran actor Gabby Concepcion turned 46 today.
Concepcion first joined showbiz when he was discovered in a commercial for a popular brand of toothpaste.
He became a Regal baby and starred in his first movie, "Katorse."
He was then paired with Sharon Cuneta, whom he married in 1984. They have a daughter, KC Concepcion.
After doing hit movies together, Cuneta and Concepcion separated and their marriage was annulled.
Concepcion left the country in 1995, several months after the 1994 Manila Film Festival scandal where he returned his Best Actor trophy after it was found out that the real winner of the award was, in fact, Edu Manzano.
Concepcion was the one who blew the whistle on his then manager Lolit Solis, whom he tagged as the mastermind behind an attempt to fraudulently proclaim him and then young actress Ruffa Gutierrez as the winners in the Best Actor and Best Actress categories.
In the United States, Concepcion used whatever savings he had from his very successful Philippine showbiz career to study at Lincoln University. He finished two degrees simultaneously then went into the real estate business.
He eventually became one of the top 10 real estate brokers in California.
In 2008, Concepcion returned and made a comeback in Philippine showbiz.
He signed a contract under the management of ABS-CBN and initially appeared in the TV drama "Maalaala Mo Kaya."
He was part of the hit TV shows "Iisa Pa Lamang," "Dahil May Isang Ikaw," and "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo."
Aside from KC, Concepcion has 3 other children, namely, Gabrielle (Gabby's daughter with Grace Ibuna), Chloe (his daughter with model Jenny Syquia), and Samantha Alexis (his youngest daughter by current wife, Genevieve Yatco Gonzales).
