MANILA, Philippines – After the romantic-comedy movie "Suddently It's Magic", Erich Gonzales is making a return to the indie film scene via a big screen project from the director of "Corazon: Ang Unang Aswang".
Currently showing in theaters nationwide, "Suddenly It's Magic" sees Gonzales as a pastry chef who falls in love with the character of Thai superstar Mario Maurer.
For her next independent film after "Corazon", however, the Kapamilya actress trades baking tools for a shotgun, as seen in the recently released trailer for "Mariposa (Sa Hawla ng Gabi)".
Directed by Richard Somes, who was also behind "Corazon," "Mariposa" tells the story of an innocent woman who unravels horrible truths while in search of her long lost sister in the city.
An official entry to the 2012 Cinema One Originals Digital Film Festival, the film also stars Alfred Vargas, Mark Gil, Joel Torre, Ma. Isabel Lopez, John "Sweet" Lapus, Dennis Padilla and Rez Cortez.
Released under Strawdogs Studio, "Mariposa" will be screened along with 12 other entries to the film fest this month.
