MANILA, Philippines - Despite her huge success as an actress, Bea Alonzo does not feel comfortable with the idea of being called the country's new superstar.
Another person with the same "superstar" tag is veteran actress Nora Aunor, who won a coveted Italian film critics' award at the recently held 69th Venice Film Festival.
"Wow talaga? Ang bigat naman niyan. Naku maraming bigas pa akong kakainin at saka mahirap na ipasok 'yon sa ulo," Alonzo told reporters last Sunday.
The actress stressed that she would rather focus on her on-screen portrayals instead of becoming famous.
"Sa ngayon, gusto ko lang 'yung naa-appreciate nila 'yung nakikita nila on screen, 'yung acting ko," she explained. "Siguro mas nagka-count 'yon more than the stardom na mas madaling mawala."
Alonzo currently stars in ABS-CBN's newest primetime offering "A Beautiful Affair," with long-time on-screen partner John Lloyd Cruz.
Their last movie, Star Cinema's "The Mistress," is said to be the biggest local box office hit of 2012.
