MANILA, Philippines – Kapamilya actress Anne Curtis is elated that her movie “A Secret Affair” is doing well in the box office, crediting its success to strong word of mouth, as well a social media.

During the thanksgiving party of “A Secret Affair” on Tuesday, Curtis said everything worked out in the end.

“Sobra akong happy. I’m just so happy how it turned out in spite of the promo that we just had. I’m so happy because of social media and word of mouth naging successful 'yung movie. I really want to thank my Twitter followers that shared the trailer and the unforgettable lines. They made sure to share how they felt about the movie. Ganon naman talaga ang success ng isang movie. It's really word of mouth,” she said.

It was earlier reported that Curtis was given a directive not to mention her leading man, Derek Ramsay, on “It’s Showtime” while promoting the movie.

But Curtis said she understood why the network's management made such a decision.

“Kinausap naman nila ako and in-explain nila 'yung side nila which I understand naman. It really just takes that naman eh, na kausapin ka para maintindihan,” she said. “Well, in the long run, naintindihan ko. Pero kasi it became a funny thing, A Secret Affair tapos kami lang ni Andi (Eigenmann) ‘di ba?”

Despite this, Curtis said it is more than enough for her that the fans liked the movie.

The “It’s Showtime” host shared she even watched the movie in secret at a mall in Makati just to see for herself how people react to the film.

“Talagang nakakataba ng puso. Kung saan sila dapat mag-react, doon talaga. ‘Ay abs!’ ‘Bongga ng linya!’ Pinapalakpakan talaga si Ms. Jaclyn Jose, the one and only. And sila mismo ang nagsasabi na pangatlong beses na namin napanood 'yung movie. So sobra kaming nagpapasalamat. We owe our success to all of you (moviegoers). Dahil sa inyo nakaka-inspire lalo na gumawa ng pelikula,” she said.

After only six days in theaters nationwide, "A Secret Affair" has now grossed P100 million in box office earnings, Viva Entertainment announced Wednesday in its official account on micro-blogging site Twitter.

The movie premiered last October 24. - from a report by
