MANILA, Philippines – Exchanging vows may soon be on the horizon for Shamcey Supsup and her long-time boyfriend, the Miss Universe 2011 runner-up shared Friday night with ABS-CBN News.
Quizzed on a possible wedding next year with her boyfriend Lloyd Lee, Supsup gamely invited ABS-CBN News to be part of the ceremony, saying, "Oo, punta ka."
Explaining that she and Lee are now "planning" the affair, Supsup added, however, that no definite date has been set.
"’Pag may definite na [petsa na, sasabihin ko]. Ayoko namang magsabi ng date tapos hindi matuloy, mas mahirap 'yun. [Sasabihin ko] pag sure na sure na," Supsup said at the sidelines of the fashion show of clothing line Lee at the ongoing Philippine Fashion Week.
"Lahat naman tayo 'di ba gusto magpakasal, pero 'yung date, wala pa, we're planning," she added.
Supsup, who became a celebrated personality in the Philippines after her runner-up finish in last year's Miss Universe pageant, is particularly grateful to her boyfriend for treating her like "an ordinary woman."
"He keeps me standing on the ground, hindi niya ko tini-treat as a celebrity. So whenever I don't feel like going outside, in public, siya, tara Greenhills tayo," she said.
"Because of him I'm more comfortable na, so it's very helpful for me," added Supsup, whose "engagement" with Lee was similarly low-key.
According to the beauty queen, no formal proposal for marriage had to be made. She said she and Lee have long had an understanding on their plans for the future.
"Hindi naman siya (proposal) surprise, kasi we've always talked about it, so parang we knew it will come to that, so it was expected," she said.
"Hindi naman formal proposal, it's more like promising to be together," she added. -- with a report from Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News
