MANILA - The SPG-rated sex scene between the characters of young actors James Reid and Nadine Lustre provided a ratings boost for "Till I Met You," defeating GMA-7's "Someone to Watch Over Me" by its largest margin in recent weeks.
Reid and Lustre, as Basti and Iris, stripped for the intimate scene shot at the back of a parked car. It came after an irate Basti and Iris grew tired of their parents bickering about their upcoming wedding.
According to Kantar Media, "Till I Met You" drew a national television viewing audience share of 15.9 percent, or four percentage points higher than that of "Someone to Watch Over Me," which received 11.9 percent.
Last night's episode also proved to be a hit on social media, garnering more than a million tweets on Twitter as fans aired their varied reactions on Reid and Lustre's first sex scene on television.
Some lauded the show for shedding light into a controversial topic such as premarital sex among the country's younger demographic, while some criticized Reid and Lustre for supposedly veering away from their role model image.
