'A Secret Affair' tops first day gross of 'No Other Woman'
MANILA -- The romance-drama film starring Anne Curtis, Andi Eigenmann and Derek Ramsay managed to top the first-day earnings of "No Other Woman," the second highest-grossing local film of all time.
Released in theaters nationwide on October 24, "A Secret Affair" hit the P20 million mark on its first day, according to a report published on the official website of Viva Entertainment.
Viva Films, the company's film production outfit, is behind the Nuel Naval-directed flick.
"No Other Woman," a co-production of Viva Films and ABS-CBN's film production outfit Star Cinema, earned P15 million on its first day in cinemas. It also starred the first team-up of Curtis and Ramsay.
Directed by Ruel Bayani, "No Other Woman" went on to become the second highest-grossing Filipino film of all time, with over P278 million total earnings.
Since it has Ramsay and Curtis in another "love triangle" film, "A Secret Affair" had been compared to "No Other Woman" leading up to its release last Wednesday.
The Kapamilya actress, however, has said time and again that her reunion flick with Ramsay is "different" from the "No Other Woman," which also stars Cristine Reyes.
“It’s different from ‘No Other Woman’ kasi iyon medyo mature eh. Ang tina-tackle ay married life na. Ito, young pa rin eh," Curtis said in an earlier interview.
