MANILA -- The third installment in the series of romantic-comedy films starring John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo is eyeing a theatrical release in the first quarter of 2013, according to Viva Films.
After being delayed a number of times since it was first announced in mid-2011, the film with the working title "It Takes a Man and a Woman" is now slated for release on Valentine's Day.
Viva Entertainment head Vic del Rosario confirmed the date to ABS-CBN News during a party held Thursday night celebrating the 31st anniversary of the entertainment production company.
The first two films featuring the tandem of Cruz and Geronimo were co-produced by Viva Films and ABS-CBN's film production outfit Star Cinema.
Originally slated for release in July this year, "It Takes a Man and a Woman" only managed to resume filming in September.
At the time, Iza Calzado was reported to be joining the sequel to "A Very Special Love" and "You Changed My Life." The Kapamilya actress, however, recently announced that she will no longer be part of the film due to conflicts in schedule.
In February, Cruz and Geronimo detailed some aspects of the film, saying that it will be set three years after the second entry in the series.
“May konting time lapse pero hindi malinaw kung gaano katagal. Ang alam ko, three years mula ‘A Very Special Love.’ Basta may time lapse and sa simula ng storya, doon niyo makikita kung ano ang pagbabago,” Cruz said at the time.
“Sa bawat relationship naman, laging may changes ‘di ba? Ito may time lapse so makikita natin kung ano ang pagbabago kay Laida at sa relationship nila,” Geronimo added.
With its predecessors being among the top five highest-grossing local films of all time, the third John Lloyd-Sarah film is expected to replicate the success of the first two, which were released in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
